The premise of this weblog is that if you blog about a topic in a narrow area twice a day that you will become an expert on the subject. The reality of this weblog is that it started in 2008 and I haven't been doing the twice daily blogging about blogging for a while.
Here's a work plan to get back on that schedule. It counts on time and effort to do regular postings, a renewed sense of focus, and some careful editing of old text to bring it back to current relevance.
First, I'm aiming for a schedule where I get two postings out each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. To do this, I'll be writing in the morning and creating posts that can be scheduled for later. A good morning's writing will write ahead at least one day and come up with at least one current topic.
Second, I'll be reaching out to people who I know who have been blogging for a long time and ask them some introspective questions about how it is that they do what they do. I'm looking forward to connecting or reconnecting with people I admire who are productive and on-topic in writing on a sustained basis.
Third, and finally, I'll be adjusting what it is that I say when someone asks me what I do. I'm a blogger, and I've been doing that non-stop for more than a decade. I've learned a lot over that time to the point where it's possible to be reflective about it and share some of those techniques with others. This is a much simpler self-description than most other ones I've had when I present myself to others, and it's the one distinctive part of my life that I really plan to continue on throughout my career.
I'm looking forward to the next phase of this effort!
