Today was better than yesterday, if only because I got a few short naps into the day, and because I spent a bit less time doomscrolling. But it was still not a good day.
The challenge is that all the news is bad, and that the bad news fills up the channels where it used to be that work got done. Thus Twitter is 90% US politics (as you might expect it to be) even if you are super careful about who you follow and why. There is no one to follow or to unfollow who will make it different or make it better, not with the current situation at least.
A strategy of course is to try to find some alternative medium that's not overrun. Mastodon helps because people mark their posts by topic but there it's just all uspol, uspol, uspol. And of course I don't blame people, it takes some space to get this all out of your head, just that you're taking up space in mine instead.
People are kind enough at work, which is good.
When I am stressed like this I get hungry and I get sleepy. Sleep seems to help, enough of it and I can wake up with a clear head. Feeding myself avoids the hangry combo that tends to set in just before dinner.
