You can take recent vintage computers and monitors (up to 5 years old) to the Reuse Center in Ann Arbor. After that, you can pay to have them recycled at the drop off station on Ellsworth at Platt. I note that Kiwanis now has a sign up "temporarily not accepting computer monitors". I imagine they have a glut as we all switch to LCD monitors (good for the environment, but then getting rid of all that leaded glass could be an environmental disaster if it's not done sensitively.)
