Power outages in the news, real time load info from New York ISO
Can't help but watch this - I'll try to keep it short, but these are the outages in the national news (= google news) reported over the last 24 hours. No doubt there are many more that aren't in the headlines.
Today's hot-spot is New York state; you can get real time load information from the New York ISO. 9am load is 28798 MW, and yesterday's peak was 33,939 MW at 1pm. From their press release yesterday:
To maintain operations within reliability criteria, the NYISO called on businesses in its Special Case Resources
(SCR) and Emergency Demand Response (EDRP) programs from 1 to 7 p.m. in New York City and Long Island, and
in from 2 to 7 p.m. in Western New York. The measures resulted in load reductions of 416 MW in New York City,
226 MW on Long Island and 450 MW in Western New York
