From Ann Arbor on most days you can pick up CBC Windsor (serving Essex, Kent, and Lambton Counties). It's one of the presets in our car, and the news and music coming from it is distinctly Canadian in a good way.
CBC management decided as part of labor negotiations to lock out CBC workers and run the national radio and television network themselves. You can pick up more information on this on the cbc and cbclockout tags on del.icio.us. Workers are walking picket lines as you would expect. What is also starting to happen - and this is fascinating and more than a little worth listening to - is the workers are starting to podcast not only their own side of the story but also some plans to do their own shows without CBC's stinkin' transmitters.
Watch CBC Unplugged for continuing coverage and news and updates from workers blogs. This promises to be radio at its finest.
