A new "what I have on reserve" sidebar
Thanks to the new RSS feeds from the Ann Arbor District Library, I now have a sidebar link on this blog (right hand side, a little ways down, if you're following at home on an aggregator) that includes all of the books I currently have on hold at the library. This more than anything else is the "what I plan to be reading soon" list.
It's a little bit of an experiment because it means that if I request an unpopular, embarrassing, or otherwise sensitive book I might have to think twice about it. But as a general idea of how to link my reading habits to people reading this blog it seems like a pretty good idea.
The feed of books on reserve has links that right now go to some internals part of the library catalog, which doesn't look quite right - I'm sure that's fixable. It would be really neat to have the book images syndicated out for me. I really like how there's a very clear indicator of progress towards the goal of picking up the book (# of holds and your place in the queue).
One more step towards integrating the library and the blog!
The broken links you mention are now fixed, and as we move toward the 'library according to Ed', you can be sure images will also be syndicated ;)

Oh I see you have Wings of Desire waiting for you! I love the film, though due to its dreamy quality, make sure you aren't too tired (what, tired? with two small children in the house? Never!) when you sit down to watch it. I've lost many a fellow viewer due to fatigue.

The what's on reserve sidebar is temporarily down, since my RSS feed changed. When it comes back I'll have run it through Feedburner to help spiff it up a little bit and to make it easier to deal with future URL-changes while the AADL RSS feeds settle down.
