last frost in zone 5b?

Ann Arbor is in planting zone 5b - a quick check of the net suggests that the last frost date expected is about May 15. Time to start examining the flowerbeds for where things go - we'll put impatiens out front where they won't get much sun which is what they like.

In the "last frost in zone 5b" department -

There are freeze warnings out tonight for Washtenaw County and
much of the rest of SE Michigan. Low temperatures will mean that
tender vegetations are at risk. You might want to bring your
hanging baskets in, or cover your outdoor plants.

The normal last frost date for this area is May 15, so this
is hardly unexpected.

First frost is not on the weather forecast yet, but queries are starting to come in.

Some calendars:

MSU Extension, SW Michigan:

In the rocky mountains, the growing season is longer but the last frost date is the same, which messes up the wildflowers:

Last frost date in zone 5b is still two weeks away, but people with hoop houses have been gardening all winter long like Shannon Brines in Dexter

and Project Grow in Ypsilanti

Frost warning for tonight; this should be one of the last few times.
